Pioneering the future of metal recycling
A Michigan scrap buyer focused on tool steel, tungsten carbide and electric motors, run on grading you can check and prices you can compare.

Who we are
Blue Star Alloys LLC buys, processes and exports scrap metal from its facility in Livonia, Michigan. Our focus is narrow on purpose: tool steel, tungsten carbide, H13 and electric motors, the material streams where grading expertise changes the price. Suppliers range from one-person machine shops to plants and demolition contractors across the United States and Canada.
Every lot is processed to the same standard: sorted by trained inspectors, confirmed by spark test and XRF, documented in a settlement report you approve before payment. The metals we recover go back into tooling and manufacturing in aerospace, automotive, construction and energy.
Our vision
Metal scrap recycling is more than reclaiming material. We see a supply chain where recovered tungsten, cobalt and alloy steel are treated as the strategic resources they are, kept in circulation through responsible processing rather than lost to landfill, and where the people who collect and sort that material are paid fairly for the work.
Our mission
- Redefine waste. Treat discarded tooling as feedstock, and recover it with current technology.
- Sustainability and stewardship. Run the yard to reduce mining dependence and environmental impact.
- Reimagine possibilities. Understand the alloys deeply enough to route each one to its best use.
- Tailored solutions. Work with each supplier on their material, logistics and timing.
- A culture of consciousness. Hold ourselves and our partners to ethical, documented practice.
Our history
Blue Star Alloys started small and grew by doing the unglamorous part well: sorting carefully, paying promptly and keeping records straight. As the business expanded we invested in analysis equipment, export capability and, most recently, our own warehouse management and accounting system built around the settlement report. We publish research on the tungsten market because we are in it every day.
