About H13
H13, also designated 1.2344 and X40CrMoV5-1, is a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium hot-work tool steel. It holds strength and toughness at temperature, which puts it in die-casting dies, extrusion dies, forging tooling, injection-mold blocks, hot stamping tools and structural parts in automotive and aerospace work.
H13 scrap is that tooling at the end of its life, in solid blocks, worn die halves, offcuts, turnings and shavings. Its alloy content gives it a scrap value well above carbon steel. We buy all of it and confirm the grade on receipt by XRF, so H13 mixed with other die steels is still settled correctly.
